Mike Ashworth

Mike Ashworth comes to us from Brevard, NC and started teaching at Musician's Workshop in March, 2001. He began playing drums and percussion since 1990, and the bass followed shortly after. He has experienced many different geres of music and is ready to share the knowledge gained from his experiences.

He first studied in high school under the Chairman of the North Carolina Bandmaster's Association, Dr. Robert Palmer, and recieved many prestigious awards such as Principal Tympanist of the North Carolina All-State Band and All-District Band for two consecutive years. He then went on to attend Brevard College and advanced to second chair in the wind ensemble during his freshman semester.

Mike now tours regionally with the Jaimee Tomas Band as a drummer and has also shared the stage playing other instruments with acts such as Jeff Sipe (former Leftover Salmon and Aquarian Rescue Unit drummer), The Greasy Beans, Steep Canyon Rangers, and Danny Barnes (Bad Livers) to name a few.

Mike teaches several styles of drums and percussion, such as: Jazz, Funk, Latin, and Rock, and also serves as an orchestral percussion teacher. Whether you're just starting out, or have been playing for years, Mike is ready to further your abilities and help you to become a professional drummer.
