We at Musician's Workshop are thrilled to bring you the new myMix networked personal mixer and multi-track recorder, and once you hear about all the things it can do we're sure you'll be just as excited as we are.

The myMix at Winter NAMM 2010

Mixing: Each myMix has two input channels that can accept 1/4-inch or XLR; each can be given an intuitive name and then managed and adjusted independently, making it simple to control your mix without having to remember what instrument is on what channel. What's more, with a simple ethernet cable you can connect your myMix to another player's. You'll see their channels appear in the myMix interface in addition to your own, and you can adjust the volume and various settings independent of the other player's. With a few more cables and a basic ethernet switch, you can plug in your entire band - each myMix can control up to 16 audio channels, so every musician can tweak the mix to their own personal preference without affecting the rest of the band. You can easily mute single channels or everything at once, boost volume during solos, apply reverb... whatever you want. This makes the myMix a wonderful tool for practicing where noise is an issue; plug everyone in and use headphones instead of speakers (the myMix has outputs for both). It's also great as a stage monitor - each player can tweak the mix at will and then listen in with headphones, speakers, or even both if you like.

Recording: Once you've got your ideal mix dialed in, the next stop is to save it. You can record up to 18 tracks of 24-bit 48kHz .wav files to removable storage using the built-in SD card slot. At the press of a button, the myMix will create a new session folder and record your processed mix in stereo, along with each unprocessed input channel straight from the preamp. Just tap the record button again to end the session and you'll be prompted to rename it if you like. Transfer the files to your computer easily via your memory card (the myMix accepts micro-SD, standard SD and SDHC cards) for editing and mastering and then share it with whoever you like. It's great for snagging ideas in a practice session so you don't forget them later, recording a live gig to share with your fans, or even tracking an album.

The myMix isn't just great because of the professional-quality audio it delivers... it's able to integrate with the gear you already have and adapt to your needs as they change. But best of all, it's so easy to use that it'll never get in the way of your creativity. As innovative and versatile as the myMix is, you're sure to have questions about how it can be put to work for you. If you have specific questions, like how many myMix units you'll need for your band or when you'll need an ethernet switch and what kind to buy, there's a great list of frequently-asked questions on the myMix website. There's also a great comparison review that discusses the myMix as a band practice tool. Or better yet, come over to the store and try one out for yourself. Our talented sales associates would be more than happy to answer your questions and help you figure out if the myMix is right for you.
